The event organized in Istanbul on the occasion of the first anniversary of the activity of the Azerbaijani Education, Culture and Solidarity Association (AzeDer) was attended by state officials of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Deputies of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, businessmen, representatives of Science, Education and culture, students studying in the fraternal country, and representatives of the public.

The event started with a minute of silence to commemorate three Azerbaijani students who lost their lives in a car accident in Turkey last day.

The report of the chairman of AzeDer Rashad Abdullayev was heard. At the end of the report, Mr. Abdullayev expressed his condolences to the families and wished the injured a speedy recovery and stressed that they were always ready to provide financial and moral support as the AzeDer.

The Chairman noted that the mission of the organization headed by him is to support the personal career of Azerbaijani youth, to share their knowledge, experience and ideas with the youth of foreign countries, to implement projects that develop the social life of our youth.

As a result of the association’s one year activity, the Chairman emphasized that more Azerbaijani youth support personal career development and said that they will continue to function as the INDEX – Azerbaijan Human Capital Development Center. To this end, he stressed that he would try to make a small contribution to the human capital development of Azerbaijan.

At the end of the speech, a film reflecting the activities of the organization was shown.

Then, a short film was shown to inform the guests about human capital. Emphasizing the importance of Human Capital Development, the film talks about the youth and educational reforms of national leader Heydar Aliyev. It was noted that only 47 people were educated outside of the Republic in 1969-1970, but as a result of the purposeful policy implemented by great leader Heydar Aliyev, this figure increased 14 times in 1975 and was close to 700 people. Idea of  the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev “to turn the black gold into a human capital” became a reality in the video, where it was noted that the number of Azerbaijanis among the students representing Azerbaijan outside the Republic grew rapidly and reached 97.6 per cent at the beginning of the 1980s.

Highly appreciating the one-year activity and goals of AzeDer, Sector manager of the Public and Political Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vusal Guliyev talking about different directions of youth and education policy and high results of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, gave detailed information about the state programs implemented in this direction and results during leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev in the country.

Deputy of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) Mustafa Kabakci, Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party’s Youth Union Seymur Orujov, Sector Manager of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Nagiyev, Advisor to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ankara Najiba Nasibova and Rector of Baku Higher oil School Elmar Gasimov highly valued AzeDer’s one-year activity and wished success to the organization. It was noted that the organization is working effectively to bring the Azerbaijani and Turkish youth closer.

Noting that national leader Heydar Aliyev’s historical services to the Azerbaijani people have been successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, the speakers talked about the role of national non-governmental organizations in the development of our society and the importance of state care for the development of NGOs.

It was noted that Azerbaijan presented a new model of development to the world community through its successful youth policy. As a result of the purposeful policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, fundamental education reforms are carried out in Azerbaijan, new educational institutions meeting international standards are established; state programs are implemented for Azerbaijani youth to study in foreign countries and at the same time foreign students are provided in Azerbaijan.

With consistent and purposeful youth and education policy, our state makes a valuable contribution to the determination of the correct directions of activity for NGOs in the direction of obtaining knowledge and formation of our citizens in accordance with modern requirements.

At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the students having experience in leading companies and international organizations located in European countries with the organizational support of AzeDer. Certificates were presented to Azerbaijani youth who had internships in the world’s leading companies and institutions such as BP, STATOIL, PWC, European Parliament, UNIDO (United Nations Organization for Industrial Development) by Elmar Gasimov, Rector of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), Seymur Orujov, Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Youth Union and Azad Jafarov, Sector Manager of the International and Public Relations Department of “ASAN Service” Agency.
